Cornell Red Tail Hawk tragedy
If you have been following the Cornell Red Tailed Hawks, BR and Ezra and their 2013 chicks, then you are probably already aware of the tragedy that happened. For those who haven't, Ezra and Big Red (BR) are a pair of Red Tailed hawks who had 3 chicks that hatched, grew up and fledged before our eyes on the Cornell Red Tail Hawk cam before thousands of people. Friday, August 9th, a dead juvenile Red Tailed Hawk was found, and another juvenile Red Tailed Hawk was found injured. The chicks were called D1, D2, and D3. D2 was sighted on campus, as were Ezra and Big Red, leaving D1 and D3 at large. Upon examining the Red Tailed Hawk that was being cared for by a vet, it was determined the hawk was D1, leaving only D3 missing. It has not been confirmed but very much suspected that the dead RTH (Red Tailed Hawk) is D3.
